Privacy, in plain English

The short version: I collect as little as I can get away with. I don’t sell anything. I don’t track you across the web. The bot conversation lives on your device, not on a server with your name on it.

What stays only on your device

• Your conversation with the bot. Stored in this browser’s local storage. Clear it any time from the chat page. I cannot read it.
• Your unlock state, if you have paid. Stored as a signed cookie in this browser, valid for up to five years. Device-bound.

What touches the server, briefly

• Each message you send to the bot is forwarded to OpenAI’s API to generate the reply, then returned to you. Under OpenAI’s API terms in 2026, your messages are not used to train their models. They are retained by OpenAI for up to thirty days for abuse monitoring, then deleted.
• Standard server logs on Cloudflare: timestamp, IP address, user agent, response size. Kept for up to thirty days for security. Not joined to anything else.
• Payment, if you pay the £29: handled by Stripe. They get the card details. I never see them. Stripe records the transaction; I see only that a transaction succeeded and which device unlocked.

What I don’t collect

• No account. No name. No email, unless you send one to me.
• No third-party advertising trackers. No Google Analytics. No Facebook pixel.
• No referral kickbacks from any clinic, fellowship, app or coach mentioned anywhere on this site. Now or ever.

Cookies, named

• sg_unlock — set after payment. Tells the site this browser has paid. Signed, expires after five years.
• That is the lot.

Your rights under UK GDPR

You can email me to ask what I hold (almost nothing), to delete it (almost nothing), or to opt out of anything (you already have). The address is hello@sober.guide.

Crisis exception

If your message contains language that suggests a real and immediate risk to life, the bot will surface UK 999 and Samaritans 116 123 plainly and stop being clever. It does not contact anyone on your behalf.
